Love Next Door (2024)
I am writing this as a review for the k-drama "Love Next Door" because I keep on forgetting the plot of the series I've already watched.Love Next Door (2024)
This k-drama is based on childhood "frenemies" starring Jung Hae-in as Choi Seung-hyo and Jung So-min as Bae Seok-ryu as the main leads. The story starts when Bae Seok-ryu returns from the USA unannounced and tells her family she has called off her wedding and resigned from her job but would not tell the reason behind her decisions to her family and friends back home.
From the first episode we can see the love hate relationship between Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu because they are seen bickering and fighting with each other yet also standing with the other person when they needed it.
The story also portrays Bae Seok-ryu trying to find her dream (job), it felt good to see a portrayal of the struggle everyone goes through to find their dreams her already having a successful career in a different field showcased you can be successful but unfulfilled meanwhile Choi Seung-hyo fell in love with architecture which was his second dream this felt very relatable because not all of us can pursue our dreams because of various reasons.
Choi Seung- hyo has the picture perfect family on paper but in reality the environment he grew up in was not of a happy going family, as he grew up with Bae Seok-ryu and her mother, he became closer and more comfortable with her family.
They have a friend Jeong Mo-eum played by Kim Ji-eun who falls for a reporter and goes through her share of problems when he denies getting into a relationship with her.
The whole small town families involved in each other's business is vey funny to me.
The Drama feels very wholesome because we get to know every character closely and everyone has a beautiful backstory.
The most fun thing in the whole drama were the drinking scenes with the dads!
The only negative point for me was the love story was too slow for me so I Skipped whenever I felt a little bored. (This is all I could write without spoilers)
Overall a Good, Cozy watch.
